Speaking Their Language: Information Literacy via Videos and Google-like Tools

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

If students can watch short videos and type search terms into Google, they can learn to find, evaluate, and use information successfully. That’s because ProQuest’s new product Research Companion serves up information literacy principles and examples in the way students prefer without sacrificing rigor. With dozens of brief instructional videos and tools that combine with simplicity of Google with the richness of library resources, ProQuest Research Companion addresses the real-life questions students commonly have when tasked with research and writing projects—questions like How do I choose a topic?, How do I evaluate sources?, and How do I write a thesis statement? Come ready to discuss your challenges and successes in taking students through these questions and learn about the ways in which Research Companion might help. You will leave the session with month-long access to the entire product and a link to an open-access video introduction to Wikipedia.
