Dave Faires is the band director at Willowcreek Middle School in Lehi, UT. He is originally from Concord, CA. As a student, he has studied Music Education and Trumpet Performance at Ricks College, Brigham Young University and The American Band College. He is currently finishing a Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting at BYU. As a performer, he is a freelance trumpeter in all styles and is currently a member of The Utah Wind Symphony. He has performed at The Midwest Clinic, 2002 Winter Olympics and recorded and toured with BYU’s Synthesis and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. As a conductor, he has appeared with the BYU Wind Symphony and University of North Texas Wind Ensemble among other community ensembles. As an educator, he has taught at all levels from elementary to college. He also maintains a private trumpet studio and is a clinician and adjudicator. Dave currently lives in Pleasant Grove, UT with his wife and four children.

In 2013, under the direction of Mr. Faires, the Willowcreek Band Program was the recipient of an Alpine School District Professional Innovators Grant. This grant provided the initial resources necessary for developing the practices shared in this presentation.
